How we can help you

Parents can face many challenges bringing up their children. Pressures such as post-natal illness, other illnesses or disabilities, multiple births, family/relationship breakdown, loneliness and isolation, bereavement and hardship can all make a difficult time even harder.

To Home-Start every family is special and we respond to each family's needs through home-visiting and group support.

Some families will need to be visited for only a few months, whilst others will need support for much longer. As long as there is a need and at least one child is under the age of five we are happy to be involved.

Home-visiting support consists of 2-3 hours a week by a volunteer who is normally a parent themselves - families are carefully matched with a volunteer. Our support is tailored, personalised, non judgmental and delivered to families in their own homes, in groups and social events. All our volunteers are CRB checked and undergo a ten week training course which covers issues such as confidentiality, safeguarding and working with families and children.

We support parents as they grow in confidence, strengthen their relationships with their children and widen their links with their community.
