Home visiting
Starting in the home, our approach is as individual as the people we’re helping. No judgement, just compassionate, confidential help, and expert support.
Home-visiting support is at the heart of what we do. It is a solution we have adapted and refined over 34 years. And it has remained at the core of our service since 1973.
Home-Start volunteers help families facing isolation, the effects of post-natal illness, disability or mental health issues, bereavement, multiple births, poverty or financial difficulties, or a whole range of other challenges that impact on family life.
After meeting with the family to discuss their specific needs, Home-Start will match the family to a volunteer.
The help we give each family is unique and depends entirely on their circumstances, requirements and what they want help with.
Services like this are brilliant. We want as a nation to ensure that all vulnerable families have the most help in promoting that [vital] link between themselves and their babies.
Frank Field MP- 95% of the parents we work with tell us that their children’s emotional and physical health and well-being has improved.
- 95% of them felt more involved in their children’s development and 94% felt less isolated.
- 86% are more able to cope with their physical health, and 69% more able to cope with any mental health problems.
Home-visiting support makes a great difference to families’ resilience, helping them to cope with the difficulties they face.
